Fritz Spence, Head Coach
Fritz Spence is in his 12th year at Penn State coaching the Nittany Lion women's jumpers and multi-event athletes after outstanding results over the past 11 seasons. In his decade+ with the Nittany Lions, Spence has overseen 16 All-America efforts, including Gayle Hunter, who claimed a total of nine All-America certificates in the multi-events. Hunter is the indoor school record holder in the long jump 20-11.00 (6.37m) and pentathlon (4342), outdoor school record in the Heptathlon (5797) and 4x400m (3.27.69) relay under Spence's watch.
Alex competed for Penn State from 2013 to 2017 and specialized in the 400 meters. While at Penn State, Alex was a part of the distance medley relay that won the gold medal at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in 2015 and 2016 and a part of the NCAA runner up distance medley relay in 2015. Alex was a team captain for the track and field team for both the 2016 and 2017 seasons and is now a volunteer coach under Erin Tucker at Penn State.
